Biography

Sam Reisenfeld graduated with a BS (Hons) in Communications Engineering from the University of Illinois in 1969 and received his MS and PhD in Communications Systems Engineering from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1971 and 1979, respectively. From 1969 until 1988, he was a Communication Systems Engineer at the Hughes Aircraft Company, Space and Communication Group, El Segundo, California, where he was involved in the system and hardware design for numerous commercial, NASA, and defence satellites. From 1988 until 2009, he was an Associate Professor of Telecommunications Engineering at the University of Technology, Sydney and during 1988 to 1992 he also worked in satellite communications at the OTC Research and Development Laboratory in Sydney. From 1998 to 2005, he was a Program Director for the Cooperative Research Centre for Satellite Systems and from 2007 until 2009 he was the Co-Director of the Centre for Real-Time Information Networks at the University of Technology, Sydney. He has authored 70 technical papers in Communication Systems and Signal Processing. A/Prof Reisenfeld joined the Department of Engineering at Macquarie University in 2009. His current research interests are wireless communication systems, satellite communication systems, software defined radio, cognitive radio oriented wireless networks, mobile networks, adaptive coding and modulation, synchronisation and tracking.He is a member of the IEEE, the organiser of Globecom98 and the Chairman of the Technical Program Committee for AusWireless06. He was Chairman of the IEEE Communications and Signal Processing Joint Chapter, New South Wales Section for 10 years.
