Biography
I am a speech pathologist, and I study communication disabilities. I am interested in aphasia, and other acquired communication disabilities. My research focuses on communication in the course of everyday life, and related speech pathology assessment, intervention, and measurement practices. I have expertise in ethnomethodological research methods, and particularly conversation analysis. I employ these methods with a view to exploring the interface between the organisation of interaction, language, cognition, and related impairments. I am especially interested in organisations of practice for interaction, including the turn-taking and repair systems. I currently supervise students conducting research on aphasia, related speech pathology assessment and intervention, and everyday and institutional interactions across a variety of social activities.
