Biography
Trevor Cobain is the Director of Operations in the South Eastern Area Laboratory Services (SEALS). He is a Founding Fellow of the Faculty of Science, RCPA and is a Fellow of the Australasian Institute of Medical Scientists. He is also a Fellowship examiner for AIMS, on the editorial board of AIMS and is a Deputy Principal Examiner in the Faculty of Science, RCPA. His research interests relate to Transfusion, Haematology, Genetics and the efficiency of the Health System. In particular the efficient and appropriate use of blood products and Pathology test ordering. He has particular experience and interest related to Transplantation and the role of Chromosome 6, and the association of Chromosome 6 and disease susceptibility. He has been an advisor for the blood supplies in East Timor just after the conflict. He was also involved with the victims of the Bali bombing in Perth and says that it was an amazing opportunity and an honour to be in a position to be able to provide special blood products during their recuperation.
