Biography
Dr. Nitesh Nerlekar graduated from Monash University with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery with honours in 2007. After completing his basic physician training at Monash Health, he completed his advanced training in cardiology at MonashHeart with placements at the Alfred and Frankston hospitals. He subsequently completed a fellowship in advanced echocardiographic and cardiac CT interpretation at MonashHeart. He is currently undertaking training in cardiac MRI. Nitesh has a keen interest in cardiovascular research with manuscripts published in high impact journals including The Lancet, The Journal of the American College of Cardiology, Radiology and The International Journal of Cardiology. He has recently completed a Masters of Public Health, as well as statistical and research diplomas through Harvard University. He is currently undertaking a PhD to assess the effect of structured weight loss in obese patients with cardiovascular disease for which he has been awarded a prestigious National Heart Foundation and National Health and Medical Research Council Postgraduate Scholarship, as well as an Academic Fellowship by Monash Health.
