Dr Mark Whittington

Biography

Having obtained my basic medical degree in New Zealand I worked in Gisborne Hospital and Waikato Hospital as a house surgeon for two years before immigrating to Australia. Thereafter I worked in both Royal Park Psychiatric Hospital and Larundal Psychiatric Hospital in Melbourne whilst I was doing my training in psychiatry and studying for the Masters of Psychological Medicine. Having obtained my Fellowship I have been working exclusively in private practice, initially at North Park Private Hospital, Bundoora Victoria between 1992 and 1998. I commenced working in Queensland in 1999, again in private practice as a Consultant Psychiatrist at the Mermaid Therapy Practice in Mermaid Waters in the Gold Coast and over the last 12 years I have been practicing at the Evandale Practice. I work as a Consultant Psychiatrist seeing adults with all spectrums of psychiatric illnesses from anxiety through depression, mood disorders and schizophrenia. In addition I regularly provide psychiatric assessments and reports for both WorkCover Queensland and for a number of legal practices. I have a special interest in cognitive behavioural therapy and employ an eclectic approach with psychotherapy patients.
