Biography
Hien Nguyen works at Victoria Police - Police Psychology Unit providing various psychological services such as critical incident stress management, counselling, psychometric assessment for recruitment, implementation of health initiatives, training and research. Hien is currently completing her Masters of Psychology (Counselling), focusing on posttraumatic mental health. As part of the Masters she is undertaking research examining the effectiveness of Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) in treating posttraumatic symptoms in police officers. She is also currently partaking in an internship with Austin Hospital - Psychological Trauma Recovery Service treating adults with posttraumatic stress disorder. Hien has experience in treating alcohol and other drugs disorders, trauma, and general mental health conditions in adult and children / adolescent populations. She has implemented various Statewide health initiative such as a chlamydia outbreak prevention initiatives targeted at young people, and an alcohol education program (introduction of the new guidelines) for Victoria Police employees. Hien is also a member of the Critical Incident working group at Victoria Police tasked with developing and implementing Psychological First Aid training to Victoria Police.
