Cathy Catroppa

Biography

Associate Professor Catroppa is an Educational and Developmental Psychologist, and a Research Fellow at the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute. She holds honorary positions at the University of Melbourne and The Royal Children's Hospital and was awarded the title of Associate Professor in 2007. Professor Catroppa has also been practicing privately as a clinician since 1993. Her research focus has been in the area of childhood acquired brain injury (ABI), where she has been coordinating a large scale research program investigating acute, short-term, and longer-term outcomes, following participants to 20 years post injury. Now that outcomes and risk factors associated with outcomes are better understood, she has now also become interested in the adaptation and development of interventions to prevent and/or reduce the impact of a brain injury. As of 2016, Associate Professor Catroppa has 112 peer-reviewed publications in top ranking journals in her field and serves on international editorial boards. She is a manuscript reviewer for 32 journals in her field, and a granting agencies reviewer for 12 funding agencies, both national and international. Over a span of approximately 15 years she has been awarded more than $8M in research funding. Associate Professor Catroppa supervises local and international post-doctoral researchers, interns, PhD, Masters and Honour's students.
