Biography
Dr Deirdre Gartland is co-leader of the Health and Resilience Stream in the Healthy Mothers Healthy Families research group. She completed a Professional Doctorate in Health Psychology at Swinburne University in 2009, developing the first international measure of resilience in adolescence. Dr Gartland joined the Healthy Mothers Healthy Families research group in 2008 to analyse longitudinal data from the Maternal Health Study, and quickly assumed responsibility as data manager for the study. She has published extensively on women's health during pregnancy and postpartum, intimate partner abuse and child mental health. She is currently co-leading the 10-year follow-up of mothers and children in the Maternal Health Study cohort, and was recently awarded a four year National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) grant to develop a measure of childhood resilience.
