Biography
Petrea is a research coordinator and PhD Candidate on the Aboriginal Families Study. She is coordinating and investigating language development in the children participating in the Aboriginal Families Study. Petrea is a speech pathologist and linguist and also works clinically at the Royal Children's Hospital. Petrea has previously worked on a number of large longitudinal cohort studies at MCRI, primarily as research coordinator on the Early Language in Victoria Study, a prospective longitudinal study investigating the speech, language and literacy developmental pathways of Victorian children. Petrea is interested in research that aims to improve health equity for hard to reach groups, particularly Aboriginal families and other groups from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds. She also has research interests in neurodevelopmental disorders and optimising speech and language outcomes for children with disabilities.
