Biography
I am a lecturer in Politics and Security, Terrorism and Count-terrorism Studies and am a Research Fellow at the Asia Research Centre. My research interests focus upon Indonesian politics and society, in particular the political economy of gangs, organised crime and political violence. I also have an interest in urban politics, in particular infrastructural politics, political agency of the urban poor, informal economies and the relationship between urbanisation and social and political change. I have collaborated with various organisations on joint governance research projects, such as Indonesian Corruption Watch. Previously I worked as a translator and interpreter, including with AusAID, DFAT, MSF and The Red Cross, with a specialization in medical translation.
