Biography
Professor Young practised in family and commercial property law at two large Perth firms before moving to academia in 1990. Her area of teaching and research expertise is family law.
Research Interest
Professor Young researches primarily in family law. Her research areas include parenting disputes, property matters, maintenance and child support and family violence. She is the co-author of a leading book in her field, Family Law in Australia, Co-Editor of Children and the Law in Australia, and until the start of 2017 was Editor of Australia’s leading family law journal, Australian Journal of Family Law. Professor Young is also the current Australian contributor to the International Society of Family Law’s annual survey of international family law.
