Biography
I completed my Bachelor of Laws degree at Murdoch University in 2005 after a prior career as a librarian and completion of a PhD in Literature at the University of Western Australia. My honours research paper in Law was on the ascription of criminal responsibility to corporations for the offence of manslaughter. In 2008 I returned to Murdoch Law School to teach in the areas of Contract Law, Criminal Law and the Australian Legal System. After my admission to legal practice in 2010, I worked in commercial, property and resources law. I have also practiced in wills and estates and guardianship law. I developed strong interests in immigration law, mainly due to its complexity and ‘human’ character. I became registered as a migration agent with the Migration Agents Registration Authority in 2011 and completed the Graduate Certificate in Australian Migration Law and Practice at that time. I practiced in immigration law from 2011 to 2015, and it is my overriding area of legal interest. In particular, I am interested in issues regarding women and immigration law; comparative immigration law; and the clinical legal training of future migration agents.
