Biography
Ross Williams is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Education and the Academic Chair responsible for primary and secondary Health and Physical Education (HPE) programs. He has worked as a teacher, teacher educator and administrator in a variety of educational institutions in Western Australia and internationally in the United Arab Emirates, Brunei Darussalam, Canada and in the United States of America. His research has focused on the development and implementation of Healthy Lifestyle educational programs including the statewide ‘Take the Challenge’ project. He is currently an EDD candidate at Murdoch University investigating practitioners perceptions of HPE assessment. He is the immediate Past President of the WA Branch of the Australian Council for Health, Physical Education and Recreation (ACHPER).
Research Interest
Research interests include all of the following: Investigating whole school, community & parent actions designed to mitigate the health risks of increasing screen time among school-aged children Improving pre-service teacher use of peer assessment strategies within Health and Physical Education (HPE) programs Identifying practitioners perceptions of HPE assessment Implementation of the Australian Curriculum: Health and Physical Education (AC:HPE) curriculum in Western Australian schools Teacher use of innovative HPE programs targeting Type 2 diabetes Identifying the strategies that teachers’ believe make Healthy Lifestyle programs work
