Biography
A/Prof Chris Wensrich has a strong background in applied mechanics from both a computational and experimental point of view. This includes significant expertise in granular mechanics spanning from the micromechanics and homogenisation of granular systems to analytical modelling of granular dynamics (particularly the silo quaking problem) and computational modelling using the Discrete Element Method (DEM). He is also a pioneer in the application of neutron diffraction strain scanning techniques to granular systems. In the broader area of applied mechanics, he has significant expertise in the area of neutron diffraction based strain measurement. In particular, he is responsible for several recent breakthroughs in the area of Bragg-edge Transmission Strain Tomography, including the worlds first practical demonstration of this technique outside of simple axisymetric systems.
