Biography
"Adrian completed a Bachelors degree in Human Movement Science and Psychology at the University of Port Elizabeth, South Africa, in 1996. He attained his Honours degree in Human Movement Science and Biokinetics (Clinical Exercise Physiology) in 1997. Following a two-year internship program in clinical exercise physiology, Adrian commenced his higher research Masters degree in Human Movement Science, which was conferred in 2004. Following completion of his Master's degree Adrian worked extensively as a clinical exercise physiologist in primary and occupational healthcare settings in the United Kingdom and Australia, before joining the University of Newcastle as an associate lecturer and commencing his PhD studies in Exercise and Sport Science. Adrian's research interests include the fields of applied strength and conditioning, biomechanics and motor control, with view to enhancing athletic performance (primarily running speed and change of direction ability) and preventing sports injuries. Working alongside the Australian Sailing Team Adrian's PhD research quantifies and describes the aetiology of low back pain in elite Olympic class sailors. Adrian holds sports massage therapy, ACSM Exercise Specialist, NSCA CSCS, and Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment certifications."
