Biography
My research expertise lies in risk factors for the development of cardiovascular disease, especially cholesterol and its metabolism, homocysteine and its metabolism as well as blood pressure and the impact of nutrition and nutritional factors on these risk factors. My research expertise also covers natural products such as green tea and its constituents and their impact mainly on cholesterol metabolism and there possible use in functional foods for the prevention of cardiovascular disease. I am currently involved in supervising 5 PhD and 1 M Sc research students. In the past I have also successfully supervised a dozen honours students and three PhD students.
