Biography
My professional career is built on over 25 years’ of experience designing and building innovative electrical and electronic hardware for use in mining, power, rail and research applications. In conjunction with the completion of a 7 year engineering traineeship with A. Goninan & Co Pty Ltd, I graduated from The University of Newcastle with a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (Honours) in 1995. In addition, following my passion for research I commenced a PhD whilst still working full time in 2002. My PhD was focused on the condition monitoring and diagnostics of electrical power equipment and was completed in 2011. To date I have authored / co-authored 30 international research publications and presented my work at conferences and seminars around the world. From the perspective of leadership, I have been responsible for teams in both industrial and academic settings. My academic experience includes lecturing large cohorts of undergraduate students over several years in both Australia and Singapore in the areas of embedded hardware and software design, as well as RF and analog electronics and advanced computer systems. I have also generated significant funding for research projects aimed at providing novel solutions to industrial problems. My present role is the Engineering Manager at Ampcontrol CSM where I am the site engineering authority. Concurrently, I also maintain a Conjoint Senior Lecturer position at the University of Newcastle where I supervise several post-graduate students.
