Biography
Ian Kemish is Executive General Manager - Public Affairs & Social Performance of the Company effective May 16, 2016. He has extensive executive level experience across industry and government having held roles spanning the resources sector, political and business advocacy, economic analysis, management of the Australian international aid program, and crisis management. Mr Kemish joins Newcrest from ExxonMobil where, for the past three years, has held the role of Senior Director, Asia Pacific External Affairs. Prior to this, Ian has held the roles of Australian High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea; Australian Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany and Switzerland; Head of the International Division at the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, and Head of the South East Asia and Consular Divisions at DFAT. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in International Relations and South East Asian Modern History, and a Graduate Diploma in Education. He was awarded membership of the Order of Australia in 2003 for his leadership of the Australian Government's emergency response to the 2002 Bali bombings.
