Biography
Professor Paul de Souza has been a practicing medical oncologist for more than 20 years, having obtained the FRACP in 1992. He trained in medical oncology at St George and Prince of Wales Hospitals, and was Research Assistant Professor at the University of Virginia (1994-1997) before working at Wollongong (1997-1999) and St George Hospitals (1999-2010). In 2010, he was appointed Foundation Professor of Medical Oncology at University of Western Sydney and a medical oncologist at Liverpool Hospital. He has sub-speciality interests in genitourinary cancer, brain cancer and rare cancers such as sarcoma. He runs a laboratory at the Ingham Institute, Liverpool Hospital, and conducts many clinical trials including Phase I trials. He has been teaching medical students, residents, registrars and advanced trainees over many years, in Australia and in the USA. He continues to supervise medical student research, Masters research students, and PhD students. His private practice is conducted at Southside Cancer Centre Miranda, St George Private, and Mater Hospital in North Sydney.
