Biography
Peter Langridge is currently CEO of the Australian Centre for Plant Functional Genomics, which has just been established through funding from the Australian Research Council, the Grains Research and Development Corporation, and the South Australian Government. The new Centre will focus on new approaches to breeding for tolerance to environmental stresses in barley and wheat. Until 2002 Professor Langridge was the Research Director for the CRC for Molecular Plant Breeding. His research has focused on development and application of molecular biology to crop improvement. For this work he received an Australian Technology Award in 1998. He is currently Chair of the Biotechnology Biological Sciences Expert Advisory Committee of the Australian Research Council, and a member of the Technology Technical Advisory Committee of the Office of the Gene Technology Regulator. He is also closely involved in international collaborations on genomics research in wheat and barley. Peter provides considerable expertise in advanced molecular breeding of particular relevance to NuPlant's breeding program
