Biography
Sarah Weber RN, MPH, Grad Cert Rem Hlth Prac Sarah is currently working as a Clinical Nurse in the Emergency Department at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane, having recently also worked in the role of Clinical Nurse Consultant Disaster Liaison for the Health Disaster Management Unit in Queensland Health. Sarah has previouslyworked as the Nurse Manager of the Disaster Response Service (a partnership between NCCTRC and the PAH) for over 2 years assisting with building local and national disaster response awareness and surge capability. Sarah has been nursing for 17 years with experience in regional, rural, remote and metropolitan locations in the Northern Territory, Queensland and Western Australia including the forensic environment. Sarah has worked in Emergency Nursing for 14 years. In her roles, Sarah has been involved in developing the disaster sub-plans for the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit and Peri-Operative Suite at the PAH. From 2013-2107 Sarah coordinated the QLD Major Incident Medical Management and Support (MIMMS) Course Program and has attained Coordinator, Director and Full Instructor qualifications for both MIMMS and HMIMMS in Queensland. Sarah’s clinical involvement in disaster response began in 2002, nursing the victims of the first Bali Bombings at the Royal Darwin Hospital. Sarah was deployed with Queensland Health to assist in the 2011 QLD floods, and was a member of the Australian Medical Assistance Team who assisted in the February 2011 response to the Christchurch Earthquake. Sarah is a Senior Emergo Instructor and a MIMMS/HMIMMS instructor, Coordinator and Director; has completed AusMAT training and was a member of the NCCTRC Medical Team who supported the 2012 Tour De Timor bike race. Sarah has an interest in education and raising awareness of disaster health management and response coordination.
