Biography
Peter Reaburn is a sport scientist and Associate Professor in the School of Medical and Applied Sciences at the Rockhampton campus of CQUniversity. He is a highly-respected educator who won the CQUniversity Vice-Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Learning and Teaching in 2012 as well as a national teaching award (Office of Learning and Teaching Citation) in 2013. He was Head of the Department of Health and Human Performance for seven years and then the only academic seconded into a major university auditing project (Australian Universities Quality Agency) for two years. Since returning to faculty in 2011, Peter has rekindled a passion for real-world applied research. While he has a number of research interests focused on applied sport science, he now specialises in research related to masters sport. He has written over 60 refereed publications in the form of journal articles and book chapters, five books, and numerous national and international conference papers. Peter currently supervises nine full-time postgraduates and was nominated by them to win the CQUniversity Postgraduate Supervisor of the Year in 2013. He is currently on the editorial panel for the European Review of Aging and Physical Activity and is a member of Exercise and Sport Science Australia's (ESSA) National University Course Accreditation Program (NUCAP) Panel. He retains a strong interest in masters sport having won the National Ironman Triathlon Championship (50-54 years) in 2005. He regularly competes in road cycling, running and open water swimming events.
