Biography
Professor Ramzan completed his Pharmacy training in New Zealand and his research degrees at The University of Sydney obtaining his MSc and PhD specialising in Drug Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics. Professor Ramzan spent five years at the State University of New York, Buffalo where he carried out postdoctoral training with Distinguished Professor Gerhard Levy. He also held Faculty appointment at the same institution and was Assistant Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh. Professor Ramzan returned to Australia in 1988 where he has held academic positions as Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor and Professor before being formally appointed Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy in 2008. Professor Ramzan is an author/co-author of 148 scientific publications in the areas of pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, drug metabolism and drug toxicity. In addition to his role as Dean of Pharmacy, he is a PhD examiner, reviewer for peer reviewed journals and continues to supervise graduate students. Professor Ramzan is a registered pharmacist and holds a Diploma of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Professor Ramzan also served two terms as a Fellow of The University of Sydney Senate.
Research Interest
Pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of drugs with particular interest in drug pharmacogenetics and nano-medicine/nano-toxicity Pharmacological and adverse effects of herbal medicines.
