Biography
Mike Hayter has more than 20 years of consulting experience in hydrogeology and contaminated land. He is a contaminated sites auditor accredited by both New South Wales Environment Protection Authority (under the Contaminated Land Management Act of 1997), and by Western Australia Department of Environment and Conservation (under the Contaminated Sites Act of 2003). He has worked in Australia, the UK, the Middle East and the Far East across a broad range of sites and projects. He has been responsible for the direction and management of numerous large, multi-disciplinary projects concerning contaminated land and groundwater. Mike’s specialty is hydrogeology, including groundwater resource assessment, groundwater control for construction and mining, soil and groundwater contamination assessment and remediation and risk assessment. He has provided specialist input on groundwater control and environmental impact studies for mining development in New South Wales, Tasmania and Queensland. As an accredited site auditor since 2000, Mike has conducted more than 100 audits for a diverse range of clients and sites throughout New South Wales and Western Australia. He holds an MSc in hydrogeology from Birmingham University and a BSc (honours) in earth sciences from Leeds University.
