Biography
Dr Chan is the Head of the Department of Infectious Disease at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital [RPA] and the Microbiology laboratory at the RPA campus of NSW Health Pathology. He is a graduate of the University of Sydney from which he also received his Masters and PhD. He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. His previous roles include Director of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia [RCPA] through his role on Council as Councillor for NSW and as Chair of the (then) Board of Education. He recently completed a 20 year stint as an examiner in Microbiology for the RCPA. He is a Clinical Senior Lecturer at the Sydney Medical School and teaches patient safety and quality to medical students. He is a member of the Medicare Participation Review committee, the Medical Testing Accreditation Advisory committee of NATA and is the NATA/RCPA Liaison Officer. He is a member of the Microbiology Discipline Advisory Committee of the RCPA. He chairs the Microbiology Clinical Stream of NSW Health Pathology.
