Ian Eddie

Biography

Professor Ian Eddie is a recognised expert for research and consultancy on developments in international corporate governance regulations and practices, corporate financial reporting, securities market regulation and international accounting and auditing standards, and accounting policy-making with over thirty five years-experience. Professor Eddie?s specialisations are: ? Assessment and evaluation of corporate governance practices, including board and director performance, corporate strategy and corporate performance evaluation; ? Implementation of financial market reforms in transition economies and emerging markets concentrating on the privatisation of SOEs; ? Board and director training and, professional and executive development; ? Design of regulatory frameworks and policies to facilitate corporate transparency, market supervision and surveillance; ? Due diligence audits and corporate financial performance analysis; and, ? Comparative international financial reporting and application of international accounting standards, the global reporting initiative and sustainability reporting frameworks. The above projects have involved Professor Eddie as an adviser and consultant to government departments and agencies, international accounting firms, international funding agencies such as the Asian Development Bank, the CRC for Rail Innovation and numerous international universities. Professor Eddie was a member of the Corporations and Markets Advisory Committee (CAMAC) from 2008 to 2011 and was responsible for providing independent advice to the Australian Federal Treasurer on all aspects of Australia?s corporations and securities laws. This was a statutory appointment under the Australian Securities and Investments Commission Act 2001. Professor Eddie was also a member of the CAMAC Audit Committee. Professor Eddie has experience as a company director and has held previous management appointments in Australian universities as Director DBA Program Southern Cross University (2011-2012), Director, Graduate College of Management, Southern Cross University (2008-2010), Dean, Faculty of Business and Government, University of Canberra (2006-2008), Head, New England Business School, University of New England (2003-2005)
