Biography
Matt is a lecturer in the Contemporary Music course at Southern Cross University. He completed his undergraduate study at SCU, majoring in guitar performance. Matt completed a PhD at James Cook University with a practice-based study researching the influence of new technologies on music creation in a variety of genres from historical, analytical and personal practice perspectives. His research interests include collaborative music making processes, film music and music analysis. Matt is a composer, sound artist, multi-instrumentalist and producer. His album 'Warm Keep Warm' won the 2009 NCEIA Dolphin Awards for the Best Album, Best Jazz track and Best New Age track. He is a member of the group amphibian with whom he has recorded 3 CDs, toured to the UK and throughout Australia. amphibian have been distributed in Australia
Research Interest
His Researchj Interest includes the sound designer and composer for the NORPA theatre production 'Engine'. Matt has taught across a range of sectors, including designing and implementing new Certificate IV and Diploma of Music courses at the Northern Rivers Conservatorium. He is currently on the Board of Directors for the Northern Rivers Conservatorium
