Biography
Southern Star Research was founded by Dr David Lloyd, Managing Director. Dr Lloyd has over 20 years research experience working in academia, pharmaceutical companies and contract research organisations. Prior to founding Southern Star Research, he was the Clinical Operations Manager at an Australian CRO, before moving to the role of Business Operations Manager. During this time David also provided contract Clinical Research Management services to international Pharmaceutical companies. Previous to this he was the Clinical Research Manager at Bayer Australia Ltd. David has provided expert clinical advice and guidance to numerous biotechnology, medical device and pharmaceutical companies. He has broad therapeutic area expertise and has worked across all phases of clinical trials, with strong project management and business management skills. Dr Lloyd is member of the Pharmaceuticals Industry Council, and is the Co-Chair of the Pharmaceuticals Industry Council Research & Development Taskforce. He is also a member of the Federal Government Clinical Trials Action Group (CTAG) Coordination Group representing the pharmaceutical industry. This group comprises relevant federal and state government agencies, consumer representatives and researchers, and is responsible for assisting with the implementation of the CTAG recommendations. David was also a committee member providing expert advice to the Federal Government’s Clinical Trial Action Group on patient recruitment in clinical trials, and continues to provide advice to the federal government in medical research matters. David holds a Bachelor of Science Degree (Hons) in Pharmacology and a PhD in Veterinary Science from the University of Sydney.
