Ian Burgess

Biography

Ian is an experienced CEO and board director, with a history of leading and managing member based organisations. Ian’s previous CEO roles have included the Australian Dental Association (NSW); the Australian Orthopaedic Association; and Ortho Group, a private equity backed health business.   He has been successful in growing member-based organisations through implementing strategies to enhance member value proposition, increasing engagement and by applying savvy business acumen. Ian was previously CEO of the Australian Dental Association, the membership body representing dentists in New South Wales, providing continuing education, member services and advocacy to support dentists and promote oral health. Prior to this, he held the role of CEO of Ortho Group Pty Limited, an Australian privately owned health business, comprising orthopaedic and sports medicine consulting and surgery, hospital and day surgeries, radiology centres and medical supplies businesses. He has also held the role of CEO of the Australian Orthopaedic Association, a membership body representing orthopaedic surgeons, providing specialist training, continuing education and advocacy on behalf of the orthopaedic profession. Ian holds an MBA from Macquarie University in Sydney and a Bachelor of Economics from the Australian National University.
