Research Interest
Utilising research methods embracing the qualitative descriptive design, the PhD thesis argued the need to explore technological needs for promoting nutritional health in older people with dementia by understanding perceptions of care workers recruited from the aged care industry. Reliable insights for designing such technologies emerged in eight categories from synthesising care workers' voices. Stakeholder views are crucial for technologies to be effective and accepted by users. Based on these findings, eleven considerations for developing effective technologies for older people and care workers are proposed. These two technology demonstrations involved fluid intake gesture recognition system and a smart home system for nutrition and mealtime activity support.
