Biography

After practising at Piper Alderman, Dr Suzanne Le Mire moved to academia, where she is Associate Professor of Law and the Deputy Executive Dean of the Faculty of the Professions. Suzanne’s research work on corporate law, corporate governance and legal ethics has been published in a number of highly regarded national and international journals. She is regularly invited to speak at a variety of public and professional events. This has included presentations to the Law Society of South Australia, the Australian Corporate Lawyers Association, the Hong Kong Law Society, the Hong Kong Institute of Directors, the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission and others. She has also been invited to speak to ASIC and the Law Institute of Victoria. She has been a distinguished overseas visitor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and visiting scholar at University College London. Suzanne has held roles as Associate Dean (Learning and Teaching) and Dean of Law at the Adelaide Law School, University of Adelaide. She is a member of the SA Judicial Development Committee, an editor of the international journal, Legal Ethics, secretary of the Australian Corporate Law Teachers Association, and a member of the International Association of Legal Ethics. In 2012 Suzanne was awarded a fellowship by the National Institute for the Teaching of Ethics and Professionalism based at Georgia State University in recognition of her teaching activities. In 2015, Suzanne, together with a team from the Law School, was the recipient of the Executive Dean Award for Excellence in Teaching for her activities for first year law students. Research Interest

Suzanne's research interests fall into two main areas: Corporate law, governance, and ethics; The legal profession, its regulation, and ethics. Suzanne would be happy to supervise masters and doctoral students in these areas.   She is currently supervising Aida Abdul Razak's doctoral work on the regulation of corporate manslaughter and Peter Kassapides, who is looking at court connected mediation in the District Court of South Australia.
