Biography
Cathy Turner has nursing and education qualifications, clinical experience in critical care and emergency nursing and a PhD in population health. Since 1992 Cathy has been involved in the tertiary education of nurses and in 2000 Cathy joined the former School of Population Health [UQ] to teach epidemiology and coordinate the Master of Public Health Program. Concurrently her background in nursing education led her to develop and implement a new undergraduate nursing program at UQ in 2004 for which she received a UQ Excellence in Teaching Award in 2005. In this context Cathy brought together a research team with a range of expertise to focus on workforce issues within the nursing and midwifery professions and population health outcomes by establishing the Nures & Midwives e-cohort funded by the ARC & NHMRC and a range of industry partners in 2006. This longitudinal study data contributed to Health Workforce Australia reports and is now archived at the Australian Data Archive at ANU.
