Biography
Dr Stephen Anderson is a physiologist with expertise in animal endocrinology. Stephen completed an Agriculture Science degree (Sydney) and then a PhD in ruminant reproduction at Armidale (UNE and CSIRO). With major shifts in rural R&D funding late last century, Stephen moved to UQ and undertook biomedical research in endocrinology on NHMRC funded projects. From 2000 Stephen has been a teaching and research academic in physiology and is currently in the Faculty of Medicine. In research Stephen interests lie in the nexus between biomedical and animal science. The overall theme of his work is to better understand the physiology of animal health and disease. He currently works on northern Aust beef cattle (bone growth and phosphorus deficiency), feedlot cattle (heat stress), horses (laminitis), and cats (flea sensitivity, diabetes).
