Biography

Gary Leong is a paediatric endocrinologist and  research scientist. He completed his medical degree at Melbourne University (1982) and is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) (1992). He obtained his PhD from the Garvan Institute of Medical Research, University of New South Wales (2002).   Since 2004 he has been a senior staff specialist in paediatric endocrinology and diabetes at the Mater Childrens Hospital, South Brisbane, Queensland and a Senior Research Officer, Institute of Molecular Bioscience, The University of Queensland. He has received a number of prestigious clinical and research awards and fellowships, including the American Society of Bone and Mineral Research Society John Haddad Young Investigator Award (2002); Australian Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology ìApplied Sciencesî Edman Award (2003); a NHMRC Australian Health Professional Fellowship (2004-2006)   and a Clinical Career Development Award (2006-2011).
