Biography
Helen is the Head of the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work. Helen began her career in 1979 as a Neonatal Nurse at Mater Hospital, Brisbane and Queen Victoria Medical Centre. Having worked in a number of nursing, project management, lecturing and head roles, she brings a wealth of varied experience to the University. More recently, Helen was the Executive Dean of the Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery at King's College London. She holds a PhD, Master of Public Health and Bachelor of Arts in addition to her nursing and midwifery qualifications and possesses a strong track record of attracting significant external funding. Her research interests encompass broad public health issues and in particular, the care of older people, including those with dementia. Helen actively supervises a number of PhD, Masters and Honours students.
