Biography
Mark joined the School in 2002 and currently has 132 publications, 70 in peer-reviewed journals, and has won $5.3M of external funding.His team designed the video-based hazard perception test used for driver licensing in Queensland (taken by 44,000 drivers per year, and part of a graduated licensing scheme associated with a 13%/year reduction in novice crashes). His team also designed a patient deterioration detection system (ADDS) that is being used in hospitals across Australian and New Zealand (associated with a 45% reduction in cardiac arrests in one hospital and a 11% reduction in overall mortality in another), and a new insulin chart that is currently undergoing national trials. He was part of a team that developed a national curriculum for colonoscopy training. Apart from teaching PSYC3020, PSYC4191, PSYC2361, and PSYC4121, Mark is part of the team behind Crime101x, an online course with over 55,000 enrolments to date, which won the 2016 Merlot award.
