Biography
Dr Michael Hewson is a teaching and research geographer with broad interests in digital mapping and other spatial science methods and their application to problems of the Anthropocene. In particular Michael’s interests steer toward applying spatial analysis and modelling to explore the weather. He has collaborated on projects using satellite remote sensing of aerosol, the weather modelling of anthropogenic and natural emissions to atmosphere as well as creating weather datasets for further economic modelling. Michael is also interested in the historical aspects, current issues and emerging nature of the conservation movement. Based at the Central Queensland University’s North Rockhampton campus, Michael teaches units in; Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Weather and Climate of Australia and some of the Environmental Studies units on offer (Conservation in Australia, Environmental Impact Assessment and Environmental Policy).
