Biography
Anjum Naweed is an Associate Professor and Certified Professional Ergonomist at the Appleton Institute for Behavioural Science in South Australia. He has over 10 years of experience across a range of industry sectors, complex domains, and occupational settings. Anjum joined CQU in January 2012 on a postdoctoral research fellowship and currently holds a prestigious Australian Research Council (ARC) Discovery Early Career Researcher Award Fellowship in the area of Rail Safety. Anjum’s research has focused on trying to understand and enhance the way that people perform in complex, and often, highly safety critical environments. His academic research has sought to advance theories of applied attention and develop new methods for describing and understanding human performance. His focus on decision-making and knowledge representation is particularly concerned with the relationship between people and technologies, tools, environments, and systems, beginning with the user experience. Much of Anjum’s research is geared towards pragmatic outcomes; consequently he is also given to studying system design, impact of new technology, and understanding ways of working in order to pursue practical advances that improve the way people function and interact with their environment in the real world.
