Biography

 Anthony J Gill is Professor of Surgical Pathology at the University of Sydney and a senior staff specialist in anatomical pathology at the Royal North Shore Hospital.  Anthony has a keen interest in the application of innovative diagnostic pathology techniques in translational cancer research with particular emphasis on cancer biomarker discovery and validation.  He has published extensively in hereditary cancer syndromes as well as endocrine, gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary pathology, and is an internationally recognised expert on cancers which arise due to defects in oxidative respiration (so called “SDH deficient” neoplasms). Anthony's curriculum vitae may be viewed here.  Anthony is a Chief Investigator at the Kolling Institute and a member of the executive board of the Sydney Vital Translational Cancer Research Unit. He is also the current chairman and a founding member of the Australian Pancreatic Cancer Genome Initiative based at the Garvan Institute.  In addition to his research and clinical interests, Anthony also receives several hundred cases each year from other pathologists for his expert diagnostic opinion.  He is actively involved in registrar, post-graduate and medical student supervision and teaching.

Research Interest

 Professor Anthony Gill's is a surgical pathologist with particular research interests in hereditary cancer syndromes, endocrine pathology and gastrointestinal pathology with a special emphasis on pancreaticobiliary pathology.
