Biography
After completing his Respiratory Training at Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH), Sydney, Dr Harris undertook a PhD at the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research. He investigated the objective analysis of medical imaging in various respiratory diseases including Lung Cancer. This resulted in multiple peer reviewed publications and a nomination for the European Association of Nuclear Medicine's Marie Curie Award. After completing his PhD, Dr Harris was appointed to staff at RNSH, where he helped establish an endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) and interventional pulmonology service, which has since become one of the busiest in NSW. Dr Harris has been appointed as the Lead Clinican in Lung Cancer, and currently chairs the Lung Cancer Multidisciplinary Meeting at Royal North Shore Hospital. He is the Head of Department in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine at Royal North Shore Hospital, and holds a conjoint appointment with The University of Sydney. As part of this he has extensive experience in the performance of interventional bronchoscopy including EBUS. His skillset includes the interpretation of complex imaging investigations (including PET,V/ Q, and CT scans), and the performance of interventional bronchoscopy procedures, and the interpretation of complex pulmonary function tests.
Research Interest
Dr Harris's clinical interests are wide and varied, but he specialises in the diagnosis and management of lung cancer.
