Biography
Alex Cockram has been the Chief Executive of Western Health, Victoria since October 2012. Alex was appointed Executive Director, North Western Melbourne Health (NWMH) which is based at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, in early 2007. She has also been the Executive Director, Mental Health Program, Southern Health and Area Clincal Director and Acting Director, Illawarra Mental Health Services, NSW (2002-2004). Alex studied medicine at Monash University and completed her RANZCP training in 1995. Alex Cockram is an experienced healthcare professional with a significant history in clinical practice in both public and private settings, a commitment to service system redesign and improvement and a focus on strong clinical governance, workforce development and high quality care. She is committed to developing services that sit within the continuum of the health, education and welfare sectors to provide the highest quality of health care to patients and promote strong and healthy communities in Western Melbourne. As a health service leader Alex Cockram continuously encourages an inclusive workforce that is highly participatory and supported to validate professional development. She has been a Director of the Company from 17 August 2011 through to 9 July 2012 and then again from 1 October 2012 onwards following her move from Melbourne Health to Western Health.
