Biography

Dr. Callum Richard Firth Completed a B.Sc(Hons) in Geography at Aberystwyth University, UK in 1981 and subsequently a Ph.D. at Coventry Polytechnic in 1984 which assessed the raised shoreline and patterns of ice sheet decay in the inner Moray Firth, Scotland. Following a short term appointment at the University of Keele appointed to a lectureship at West London Institute in 1988. Subsequently became Head of Geography & Earth Sciences at Brunel University prior to the current appointment as Head of the School of Environment & Technology at the University of Brighton, UK. Research has concentrated on coastal geomorphology and neotectonics in particular the utilisation of coastal features to determine patterns and rates of tectonic and glacio-isostatic movements. He has been the Secretary of the INQUA Shorelines Commission (1999-2003) and Coastal & Marine Processes Commission (2007-2011).
