Biography
My research focuses on understanding the controls on the geometry, stratigraphic distribution and quality of coals of Middle to Upper Jurassic strata in eastern Australia. I use a combination of palynology, sedimentology, subsidence modelling, and high precision U-Pb CA-TIMS dates from volcanic sediments to resolve questions on the environments of deposition, controls on coal accumulation and correlating nonmarine strata. I have previously worked on a project which looked into palaeoenvironmental changes across the PETM interval in the North Sea. I will also be part of the ANZIC contingent on IODP Cruise 369 in late September 2017.
