Biography
My current research focus is investigating the bidirectional communication between the neuroimmune and endocrine systems underlying neuropsychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia, PTSD and major depressive disorder. With a background in immunology my research interest lies in the cellular and molecular mechanisms of the innate and adaptive immune arms. I am particularly interested in understanding the regulatory roles of monocytes/macrophages and T cell interactions including cytokine/chemokine profiles at either the cellular or transcriptomic level. In addition to empirical data being derived from clinical cohorts, animal models of chronic stress are also being utilised to gain a better understanding into the cellular and genomic alterations underlying affective disorders.
