Biography
My research interests to date have encompassed a few Bone Biology groups all with a common theme, musculoskeletal disorders. Currently the research focus is on Rheumatoid Arthritis and Periodontitis within the Bone and Joint Research Laboratory, University of Adelaide. Our current research involves induction of RA and Periodontitis to create mouse models of disease. Our research focuses on investigating the local and systemic inflammation and bone loss that occurs, in these mouse models. A number of key molecules of interest in our laboratory are also targeted and corresponding treatments are assessed. Previously while in the Musculoskeletal bone research laboratory our focus was on Vitamin D activity and bone. Looking into the anabolic nature of vitamin D and its role in the local bone microenvironment. Prior to this, while in the Bone and Joint Research Laboratory in SA Pathology, our focus was on the structure and microarcitechture of bone in common diseases, such as Osteoporosis and Osteoarthritis.
