Biography
Fidelma Breen is a native of Co. Armagh, Northern Ireland and a graduate of Magee College at the University of Ulster, the University of Leicester and the University of Adelaide. She is currently undertaking a PhD entitled ‘Pathways to Permanence: The Irish Migrant Experience in Australia, 2000-2015’ in the Discipline of Geography, Environment and Population at Adelaide. Her current research focusses on contemporary Irish migrants to Australia, Australia’s immigration system and its underlying policy, settlement processes, mental health and social media as a platform for support in the migration process. Her interest in migration, particularly the global movement of the Irish, stems from a lived experience of repeat and frequent migration.
