Biography
Increasing levels of exploration along continental margins such as the southern Australian margin has led to growing recognition of the detrimental impacts of magmatic activity on prospectivity, though the processes by which magma is transported through sedimentary basins are poorly understood. This PhD project will couple the novel visualisation of seismic reflection datasets with geochemical and geochronological analysis of intrusive and extrusive rocks from the basins of the southern Australian margin to advance our knowledge of both the chronology, distribution and origin of magmatism in these basins, and the impacts of this activity on source and reservoir rocks and migration pathways.
