Biography
anet (BA, MPH, PhD Candidate (Medicine)) is currently a Research Associate in the School of Public Health at The University of Adelaide, working with the BetterStart Research Group led by Prof John Lynch, in the analyses of linked child protection, perinatal, hospital, child and family health, education and development data on SA children born from 1999 onwards. She started working on population health in 1998 and past projects have included the Gestational Diabetes Mellitus Recall Register, the South Australian Population Health Intergenerational Research (SAPHIRe) project, the Whyalla Intergenerational Study of Health (WISH), the Florey Adelaide Male Ageing Study (FAMAS), and the Men Androgen Inflammation Lifestyle Environment Stress Study (MAILES). Janet was the Study Coordinator for the North West Adelaide Health Study from 2002 to 2015. Her roles include recruitment of study participants and retention strategies for cohort participants, committee management, event management, production of participant documents, preparation of ethics applications, data management, analysis and dissemination of results (including presentations, reports, maintenance of websites, newsletter production and media). From December 2012 to November 2016, Janet also co-ordinated the South Australian Consumer Experience Surveillance System (SACESS), a monthly surveillance survey of approximately 185 South Australian overnight public hospital inpatients, that collects and monitors population data on consumers' perceptions, experiences and satisfaction with health care services. Janet completed a Bachelor of Arts (Library & Information Studies) from the University of South Australia in 2001, and a Master of Public Health at The University of Adelaide in 2004. She is currently completing a part-time PhD with The University of Adelaide on the association between parental body shape and adult offspring body shape.
