Biography
Although 1 in 13 Australians will develop bowel cancer annually there is a lack of effective therapies for advanced disease. Recent advances in cancer biology have implicated a fundamental role for the supporting tumour microenvironment in bowel cancer, specifically the cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs). However, the most crucial tumour-promoting CAF-derived factors remain elusive. My project will contribute to the narrowing of this knowledge gap and identify novel therapeutic avenues for the targeting of this deadly disease.
