Biography
Manuel or 'Manny' as he is fondly called is a Lecturer at the Adelaide Law School. He obtained his PhD in Law from the University of Adelaide in 2015, where his thesis examined the intersection of international human rights, energy, climate change and environmental law, particularly the legal significance of adopting a human rights-based approach to provide universal access to modern energy services. Manny received a number of prestigious awards for his research, including the University Doctoral Research Medal, Dean's Commendation for Doctoral Thesis Excellence, the South Australia Governor's International Student Postgraduate Academic Excellence Award, and the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Academy of Environmental Law Best Graduate Student Paper Award. He currently teaches in Property Law, Foundations of Law, and Perspectives on Property Law and Society. Also, Manny is the University's Designated Contact Point to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change Secretariat, the Law School's Indigenous Student Liaison Officer, and course coordinator for Climate Change Law and the Native Title Internship Programme.
